The Langtang Birdwatching Trek combines the serenity of the Himalayas with unparalleled wildlife experiences. Often called one of Nepal’s most beautiful treks, Langtang Valley captivates with its gurgling waterfalls, grazing yaks, and cozy tea houses tucked along cliff sides. The valley’s peaceful rhythm, combined with crisp mountain air and diverse habitats, makes every day a unique adventure for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers.
The trek is not just about the scenery — it is about observing Himalayan biodiversity in its natural habitat:
Langtang is perfect for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers, offering both gentle trails and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
7 Days • Itinerary Overview
After arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, there will be a briefing about the Langtang trek, including key bird species, wildlife to watch for, and trekking safety.
Following breakfast, you will drive north to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang Valley. The drive passes through terraced hills, pine forests, and rivers, offering your first glimpses of the Himalayan landscape. Overnight stay in a guesthouse in Syabrubesi.
Your trek begins through mixed forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron. Listen for the calls of Himalayan birds and watch for pheasants along the trail. You will reach Lama Hotel by evening, enjoying panoramic views and a warm teahouse welcome.
The trail continues deeper into the valley, following the Langtang River. Along the way, observe high-altitude bird species and the occasional signs of Himalayan mammals. Reach Langtang Village, the heart of the valley, where traditional local life blends with natural beauty. Overnight at a cozy lodge.
Trek further to Kyanjin Gompa, exploring alpine meadows and cliffs where Blood Pheasant and Himalayan Monal may forage. Optional hikes to surrounding ridges offer birdwatching opportunities and sweeping valley views. Learn about local culture and conservation practices from village guides.
Spend a full day exploring Kyanjin and nearby alpine habitats. Early mornings and evenings are ideal for spotting Ibisbill along riverbanks and Mountain Hawk Eagles soaring above cliffs. Afternoon hikes provide chances to spot Himalayan Black Bears and other elusive wildlife. Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa lodge.
Begin the return trek to Syabrubesi, retracing the scenic river valley and observing birds and wildlife along the way. From Syabrubesi, drive back to Kathmandu for an evening arrival, concluding the trek with unforgettable Himalayan memories.

One of Nepal's most beautiful migratory ducks, the Ruddy Shelduck (चखेवाचखेवी) holds a special place in Nepali literature, poetry, folklore, and songs. The well-known expression "चखेवाको जोडी" has long symbolised true love, loyalty, and lifelong companionship, inspired by the bird's habit of remaining in faithful pairs.
As autumn approaches, these beautiful birds begin their annual migration from the high-altitude glacial lakes and river valleys of the Himalayas to Nepal's wetlands, rivers, lakes, and ponds, where they spend the winter. They are usually seen in pairs before returning to their breeding grounds in the 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚the following spring—one of nature's most remarkable migration cycles.

With heavy hearts, we share this tribute. 🕯️🏔️
It is almost impossible to believe, yet tragically true: Nepal and the global mountaineering community have lost some of their brightest and most heroic stars in the devastating Broad Peak avalanche in Pakistan.
We mourn Nirmal Purja—our beloved Nims Dai—along with Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), Kili Pemba Sherpa (Kilu), Nima Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and all the mountaineers who lost their lives.
Their extraordinary courage and achievements inspired people around the world and carried Nepal’s mountaineering legacy to the highest summits.
Nepal Nature Treks & Tours Pvt. Ltd. extends its deepest condolences to their families, friends and the entire mountaineering community.
May their departed souls rest in eternal peace. Their legacies will live forever. 🙏
